Storage Solutions and Accessories

When organising your kitchen storage there a million and one choices out there. Below are just a few of the options available and things to bear in mind when designing them into your kitchen - boring I know, but take the time to read through and you could save yourself a world of problems..

Hinges

Every good kitchen uses good hinges, adjustability, easily attachable and smoothness of action makes all the difference.

You also need to take care in choosing the right opening angle, if you have elements within a unit that pull out, you'll need hinges that open past 90 degrees so that there is no fouling.

You can also get hinges that slide on or click on. Slide on hinges are the ones everyone's used to from places like IKEA, however when choosing hinges try and get clip on. They are much easier to fit and come with a cap which conceals the adjustors.

When choosing the number of hinges for your doors is also important, for the standard 600mm width door make sure that there are 2 hinges for heights up to 1000mm and weights between 4-5kg, 3 for 1600mm and 6-9kg, 4 for 1900mm and 10-15kg and 5 for 2300mm and 16-33kg.

To add that expensive slow closing effect, you don't need to spend the earth either, you can get soft close clip on fittings, you can also get buffers that are recessed into the door too.

Push Catches

For handle less doors, creating push opening doors couldn't be easier. Usually reserved for wall unit doors, there are little attachments that fit into the unit that one depressed, spring open the door. Very nifty and inexpensive gems.

Cabinet interior fittings

Bins, there are single bins, multi compartmental bins and space saving bins. They come floor mounted, door mounted, side mounted, pull out, spring loaded and even worktop waste bins (where the lid is recessed into the worktop).

Pull out storage

- Systems for larder units including baskets, shelves, bottle baskets, storage container sets, storage tray sets.

- Base unit pull out systems including internal drawers (metal, wooden, plastic - normal or slow closing), towel holders, storage baskets, two, three tier pull out units, wire baskets and shelves, under sink baskets, wine racks and many more.

- Wall units don't go without either, you can get pull down storage systems, handy for inaccessible areas.

- You can get pull out storage solutions for corner units, which include pull out shelves also manually and automatic complete pull out baskets. You can also get twisting carousel wire racks
